Second Chance at Life is proud to provide financial assistance to individuals pre- or post-transplant through one of our three assistance programs. We also provide funding to the emergency funds at Transplant Centers throughout Michigan.
Second Chance at Life’s Dental Assistance Program grants money to pre-transplant patients. All patients wanting to get on the transplant list must obtain dental clearance. If a patient has untreated dental issues, their risk of infection is high and makes them a poor candidate for transplantation. After a transplant, patients must maintain good dental health in order to minimize the chance of infection and rejection of the transplanted organ.
The program awards qualified patients a financial grant up to $1,000. Grantees must work with their transplant social worker to submit an application to the program. Since its inception in 2008, the Dental Assistance Program has awarded 24 grants totaling nearly $35,000.
